Learning Modules Range from Online Games to Hands-On Instructor-Led Lessons

Chattanooga, TN, June 10, 2024 - The Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative (CQC), in partnership with EPB, the Public Education Foundation, UTC, Chattanooga State, the Chattanooga Public Library and the Hamilton County School system, announces the results of a community-wide initiative focused on engaging learners of all levels in exploring quantum technology.

Between World Quantum Day (April 14) and May 31, participants engaged in over 2800 learning activities, involving more than 10,400 individuals in various educational experiences.

Among the diverse range of activities, one was a tailored program for Tyner Academy high school students created by the Public Education Foundation. This custom-created experience engaged students in “training” a Google Teachable Machine to recognize how many people were visible in the frame of a camera, providing them with a hands-on opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies.

“Much like the digital revolution precipitated the need for new workplace skills and knowledge, quantum technology advancements are likely to create opportunities and needs in the workforce that do not currently exist,” said Charlie Brock, CEO of CQC. “Our joint effort to offer learning opportunities to commemorate World Quantum Day is one way we can start to generate interest and curiosity in this emerging field.”
